About
About The Portal
Our goal is to strengthen the availability and proficiency of mental health resources and training within Guyana, responding to the urgent need to address the nation's concerning suicide rates. At the heart of our initiative lies a comprehensive suicide prevention training program tailored for gatekeepers, equipping them with crucial insights into suicidal behavior and mental health disorders. Through immersive exercises and risk assessment sessions embedded with real-life narratives, our platform strives to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively intervene and support those in crisis.

Additional Mental Health Initiatives Supported by IDRF
Working in over 30 countries, IDRF provides mental health support within its development and humanitarian initiatives globally. In collaboration with local partner Sawaed Association for Relief and Development (SARD), IDRF operates the IDRF Trauma and Education Centre in Gaza, aimed at ensuring the safety and accessibility of high-quality education and psychological services for children. Specifically, the center provides psychological support services to over 750 students.
Furthermore, through its partnership with the International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation (IBC) in Turkey, IDRF supports the facilitation of healthcare access for Uighur Turks. This includes the provision of psychosocial support services such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy for child-adolescents, adults, and families.
