IDRF Supports the Launch of Guyana’s National Suicide Prevention Hotline

Under the Global Affairs Canada (GAC)-funded SPAR Project, IDRF is proud to support the Ministry of Health in Guyana in launching a critical initiative—the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, set to roll out later this year.

As part of its commitment to strengthening mental health services, IDRF has provided tablets to equip the hotline team at the Ministry of Health, ensuring they can effectively connect with those in need and deliver lifesaving support to communities across Guyana.

On January 24th 2025, IDRF Country Manager, Shameena Hanif, officially handed over the tablets to Dr. Mark Constantine, Clinical Psychologist and Head of Psychology Services at the Ministry of Health. These devices will enable hotline staff to receive calls and respond swiftly to individuals seeking help.  This marks another milestone in IDRF’s strong partnership with the Ministry of Health, reinforcing efforts to expand access to mental health support and safeguard the well-being of vulnerable populations across the country.
