MOH unveils new strategy to address mental health and suicide

On Tuesday April 9th 2024, the Ministry of Health unveiled the latest advancements in mental health care with the release of the new National Mental Health Action Plan and National Suicide Prevention Plan. These comprehensive strategies outline a series of innovative programs and policies to be implemented within the country’s healthcare system from 2024 to 2030. The ultimate goal is to foster a significant improvement in the nation’s mental well-being.

IDRF, backed by the generous support of the GAC, contributed to these initiatives through the provision of resources and technical expertise. The SPAR Project, a collaboration between IDRF and government ministries, aligns closely with the objectives outlined in both plans. Notably, our ongoing Gatekeeper suicide prevention training is currently being conducted across all regions, contributing directly to the overarching goals of these national strategies.
